Carbon offsetting is the process of cancelling out the carbon that you emit in your everyday activities through investing in projects in developing countries that are reducing the amount of green house gasses in the atmosphere.

The simplest way to think about it is by using trees. If 1 tree can absorb 1 tonne of c02 from the atmosphere in a year and your car emits 3 tonnes of carbon a year, we can plant 3 trees which will cancel out your footprint.

(These figures have been simplified for the explanation)
